What should I expect at my consultation for therapy?

This is the information gathering stage! A consultation does not make you a client yet; it’s not a substitute for a therapy session, and I don’t provide crisis services. (If you are in crisis, please call 988 or one of these numbers. You deserve good care that is suited to your situation.)

This consultation is to help you decide if therapy with me is right for you. You can ask questions–voice anxieties about therapy, share your goals and experiences. We can discuss what you’re looking for in a clinician and how well that matches up with my approach to therapy. We’ll check in about the logistics of schedule openings and insurance/payment options; my session fee at Divergent Path is $150 for private pay, and we also accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, both commercial and medicaid plans.

If it seems like I might not be a great fit for you in any of these areas, that’s totally OK. If I know someone else who seems like they might be the therapist you’re looking for, I’ll try to connect you with them. If they’re one of my colleagues at Divergent Path, I may put you right on their schedule!
